Arctic Odyssey

Canadian Museum of Nature - Ottawa, ON

Opened in 1997

The 8,000 square foot Canadian Museum of Nature exhibit Arctic Odyssey included electronic and hands-on interactive exhibits as well as life size dioramas featuring a family of muskox specimens, a display of live lemmings, the incorporation of an existing polar bear travelling exhibit, a 200 gallon cold water tank for arctic marine life and fish, and life size cast models of a Beluga and a Narwhal.

O&D designed the exhibit to give the visitor a sense of the expanse of the Arctic environment. Open dioramas, tactile displays and soundscapes provided an immersive experience throughout the exhibit. Oulton & Devine also provided technical drawings for all components along with design direction for the lighting, artisans and sculptors, and graphic designer.
